We're excited to share some big news: Erigon’s 3.1.0 Pebble Paw release now officially supports Shutter’s encrypted mempool on the Gnosis chain in addition to the Nethermind client.
Erigon is a high-performance Ethereum execution client, and this update makes it easier than ever for validators to participate in Shutter’s encrypted mempool on Gnosis Chain.
A Big Step Forward For Validators On Gnosis Chain
This update allows validators to participate in Shutter’s encrypted mempool, which is designed to prevent malicious MEV and real-time censorship. It also provides validators with access to extra transactions - these shielded transactions are not available in the public transaction pool, potentially leading validators to higher block rewards.

- Please note: We’re still testing the release, this could have an impact on the experience
Other new features that Erigon’s 3.1.0 Pebble Paw brings include:
- Receipts and Predictable Latency: Introducing the
--persist.receipts
flag , which is now enabled by default for Full and Minimal nodes. This downloads pre-calculated receipts, ensuring a consistent and predictable latency - Upgrading Data Without a Full Re-sync
- Efficient Disk Usage with cut of .ef file by 50%

A Small Step Toward Encrypted Mempools on Other Chains
Shutter’s encrypted mempool has been live on Gnosis Chain since July 2024, with aspirations to expand to Ethereum L1 and other ecosystems. With Erigon’s official support, it is becoming far easier for other chains to adopt encrypted mempools too.
We see this as a building block toward our long-term vision: encrypted mempools as the default protection against malicious MEV and real-time censorship on Ethereum and beyond.
